Community Safety Classes

At Novant Health Prince William Medical Center, we believe education and prevention are the keys to saving lives. Our program is designed to help you respond appropriately to emergencies. To register for classes, call the Wellness Center at 703-369-8405.

Advanced registration is required due to the limited size of the classes. The Wellness Center reserves the right to cancel classes that do not meet the minimum number of participants. Prices are subject to change. All fees are non-refundable.

For Baby's Sake

This class includes information on baby-proofing your home, car seat safety, SIDS, and CPR for infants. This is not a certification class, but it will inform you on the basics of CPR.

Location: Wellness Center, Blue Room Medical Building 2 

Fee: $49/person or $63/couple

First Aid and CPR for Infants and Children

This course enables you to recognize and assess a child's or infant's injury or sudden illness and, if necessary, perform first aid or cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Students are required to pass a skills test as well as a written test to receive a two-year American Heart Association credential card. For age 14 and above.

Healthcare Provider CPR/AED 

This course will meet the needs for healthcare providers with instruction in CPR for all ages. The instruction will include use of barrier and bag mask devices and use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). The instructor will discuss signs of major emergencies in adults and prevention of injuries for infants and children. A course completion card (two-year certification) is issued and mailed on successful completion of a written examination and skills demonstration.

Heartsaver CPR: Adult and Child

Students will learn CPR and foreign body airway obstruction (FBAO) resuscitation skills for adults and children. Excellent for companies whose employees are required to have a credential documenting successful course completion. Students are required to pass a skills test to receive a course completion card from the American Heart Association. For groups of five or more.

Heartsaver CPR (Adult, Child & Infant)

Students will learn CPR and foreign body airway obstruction (FBAO) resuscitation skills for adults, children age 1 through age 8, and for infants up to age 12 months. Students must pass a skills test to receive a course completion card from the American Heart Association. For groups of five or more.
