Diagnostic Heart Catheterization Lab
During catheterization, a thin, flexible catheter is inserted through a very small incision in the groin or the wrist and threaded through a major artery to a point close to the heart. Dye is then injected and images captured with an x-ray camera show clearly whether there is plaque buildup in the arteries. With a heart catheterization lab, the Prince William Medical Center's Heart and Vascular Center has the most advanced tools for accurate diagnosis of cardiovascular disease.
Electrophysiology Procedures
Electrophysiology studies and procedures test and correct inconsistencies in the heart's electrical system. The electrical system of the heart generates the heartbeat. The Prince William Medical Center's Heart and Vascular Center performs electrophysiology studies and procedures, including pacemaker implantation, defibrillator implantation and Reveal® monitoring to detect arrhythmias (abnormal electrical activity in the heart).
Cardiac Rehab
A 12-week fitness and education program, cardiac rehabilitation is conducted in a 1,500-square-foot facility at Prince William Medical Center under the careful monitoring of a professional staff that includes experienced cardiac nurses. Although cardiac rehabilitation addresses risk factors such as diet, lifestyle, blood pressure and smoking, the core of the program is an individualized and closely-supervised exercise plan in which participants progressively improve aerobic conditioning using state-of-the-art cardiovascular training equipment. Many participants choose Prince William Medical Center for cardiac rehabilitation even if they have had surgery or other cardiac care elsewhere. Learn more about cardiac rehabilitation »
