The Novant Health Inpatient Care Specialists–Prince William (NHICS–PW) team is comprised of Board-certified physicians and qualified support staff dedicated exclusively to the care of hospitalized adult patients at Prince William Medical Center. Also known as hospitalists, we partner with our physician network comprised of primary and specialty physicians to provide expert, compassionate care.
One of the greatest advantages to the hospitalist program is that our physicians are present in the hospital 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. We are always available to answer your questions and to respond readily to you and your family's needs.
How we will care for you during your hospital stay
If you are admitted through the Emergency Department or directly referred for admission to the hospital, we will communicate with your primary care physician, as needed, throughout your hospital stay and when you are ready for discharge. During your stay, we will coordinate all aspects of your care, including consultations with specialists, diagnostic testing, and necessary treatments.
As experts in medicine for the hospitalized patient, we are dedicated to providing quality care to the patients entrusted to us. Our constant hospital presence ensures prompt responses to changes in a patient's condition. We bring consistency to hospital care, providing patients, families and primary care physicians greater peace of mind.
Patient Services
Hospitalists generally perform these services for their patients:
- Visiting your bedside and answering questions
- Ordering tests, medications and treatments
- Communicating with you, your family and your primary physician about your condition and care
- Consulting with additional specialists, as needed
- Arranging for your discharge from the hospital and notifying your primary care physician
- Providing going-home instructions about further care, medication and follow-up
- Sending a hospital care summary to your physician.
