NURSING DEPARTMENTS

Behavioral Medicine: The 32-bed Center for Psychiatric and Addiction Treatment provides a full continuum of care. Services include: crisis intervention, inpatient hospitalization and ECT services for adults as well as outpatient services, including substance abuse programming, psychiatric treatment and ECT.

Critical Care: This 11-bed unit provides a wide variety of care for patients who need intensive nursing care. Areas include: cardiac, respiratory, neurological or multi-system diseases.

Emergency Room: The new state-of-the-art Emergency Room has a total of 45 treatment centers, including trauma, cardiac and psychiatric rooms. ERjr. is a separate emergency room designed specifically for children to provide a comfortable, calming atmosphere. QuickER is designed for fast treatment of minor injuries and illnesses. All nurses are ACLS and PALS certified.

Float Pool: Nurses in this department are used to staff all departments in need of assistance.

Home Health: This department provides care to home-bound patients. Services include: skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational and speech therapy, and medical social services.

Labor & Delivery: Featuring 8 labor, delivery & recovery rooms, 4 triage rooms and 2 operative delivery rooms, this department offers complete birthing services, including labor and delivery, high risk antepartum and a fetal surveillance/testing unit.

Medical/Surgical Unit: This 32-bed general medical/surgical unit is comprised of a dedicated staff of RNs, LPNs, technical assistants and nursing assistants who care for a wide variety of patients.

Nursery/NICU: The new Hylton Family Birthing Center features two well-baby nurseries and a state-of-the art Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, which cares for the critically ill newborn and the immediate care problems of both term and premature infants.

O.B. (Postpartum): The postpartum unit of the new Birthing Center features 32 all-private rooms, where the staff cares for new mothers and their babies following delivery. Lactation consultants assist staff and patients to create a positive birth experience.

Operating Room: Our OR nursing staff provides care for our surgical patients during the intraoperative phase of their surgical experience; the intraoperative phase is but one phase on the continuum of perioperative care. Currently, construction is under way for inpatient Operating Rooms. The OR staff is looking forward to the opening of the new OR's, which is scheduled in late 2006.

Outpatient Surgery: This unit provides preoperative teaching and preparation and post-operative care, including preparation for home care and discharge.

Oncology: This unit features 6 private rooms, providing the highest quality of care for cancer inpatients and chemotherapy outpatients. The focus is to help patients gain control of their disease through different modes of treatment while maintaining dignity and quality of life.

PACU: The 7-bed post anesthesia care unit is a full-service unit with highly skilled nurses assisting in post-anesthesia procedures.

Progressive Care: This 20-bed unit cares for a wide variety of patients, including those with cardiac, respiratory, neurological or multi-system diseases.

Pediatrics: This 14-bed unit meets the needs of the community by offering family-centered care for the young patient.

Special Procedures: This unit serves both inpatients and outpatients. Nurses assist physicians with a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
