COMMUNITY SAFETY CLASSES

We believe education and prevention are the keys to saving lives. Our program is designed to help you respond appropriately to emergencies. To register for classes, please call the Wellness Center at (703) 369-8543.

Advanced registration is required due to the limited size of the classes. The Wellness Center reserves the right to cancel classes that do not meet the minimum number of participants. Prices are subject to change. All fees are non-refundable.

For Baby’s Sake
This class includes information on baby-proofing your home, car seat safety, SIDS, and CPR for infants. This is not a certification class, but it will inform you on the basics of CPR.

First Aid & CPR for Infants & Children
This course enables you to recognize and assess a child's or infant’s injury or sudden illness and, if necessary, perform First Aid or CPR. Students are required to pass a skills test to receive an American Heart Association credential card.
2-year certification.

Healthcare Provider CPR/AED
This two-session course will meet the needs for healthcare providers with instruction in CPR for all ages. Instruction will include use of barrier and bag mask devices and use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). The instructor will discuss signs of major emergencies in adults and prevention of injuries for infants and children. A course completion card (2-year certification)is issued and mailed on successful completion of a written examination and skills demonstration. (Must attend both classes for certification.)

For companies needing to meet OSHA requirements in Adult First Aid and CPR. Students are required to complete a skills evaluation and written test to receive a credential card from the American Heart Association. For groups of 8 or more. Scheduled by request.

Heartsaver CPR: Adult CPR Only
Students will learn CPR and FBAO (Foreign Body Airway Obstruction) skills for adults. For companies whose employees are required to have a credential documenting successful course completion. Students must pass a written test and skills test to receive a course completion card from the American Heart Association. For groups of 8 or more. Scheduled by request.

Heartsaver CPR: Pediatric CPR Only
Students will learn CPR and FBAO (Foreign Body Airway Obstruction) skills for children from 1 to 8 years of age, and infants 0 to 12 months. Safe Sitter
This course is a medically accurate instructional program designed for 11 to 13-year olds. Safe Sitter prepares them for babysitting activities with children of all ages. Topics include safety precautions for the child and sitter, choking and first aid / emergency management.
Not a certification class.
