Prince William Hospital offers a team approach to diabetes education. Its program, Living Well with Diabetes, is recognized by the American Diabetes Association. Consultations are available for those with diabetes and their families, with an emphasis on a healthier lifestyle and understanding diabetes self-management skills. Living Well With Diabetes
Have you recently been diagnosed with diabetes? Do you need updated diabetes health information? A diagnosis of diabetes can be overwhelming. Knowledge and self-management are key factors in successfully managing diabetes. Prince William Diabetes Services is your resource for diabetes education. Our multidisciplinary team of experts will provide you with the latest health information in a class series called Living Well with Diabetes. This series includes a one-on-one meeting with a diabetes educator for an assessment of your individual needs. Day and evening sessions are available. Pre-Diabetes
One-on-one counseling with a registered dietitian will provide the information needed to prevent or delay the onset of Type 2 Diabetes. A free glucose meter is included. For more information or to arrange a consultation, call (703) 369-8405.
Gestational Diabetes
Consultations are provided to women who develop gestational diabetes during pregnancy. Meter instruction and nutrition planning is included. To arrange a consultation, call (703) 369-8405.
Insulin Pump Training
Learn about the insulin pump, including the necessary skills needed to wear a pump. This program provides information on carbohydrate counting, the mechanics of the pumps and the management of glucose after pump therapy is started. For more information, call (703) 369-8405.
Cholesterol and Blood Lipid Profile
Lipid Profile includes total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, TC/HDL ratio, triglycerides and glucose. Please call (703) 369-8605 for an appointment.
